Il nous paraît qu'il faut étendre le sens des mots le livre de la loi à l'ensemble de la législation mosaïque selon qu'elle était déjà consignée et avait été déposée auprès de l'arche. Ce qui nous fait penser qu'il ne s'agit pas seulement du Deutéronome. c'est que plus tard, dans la description de la Pâque, sont mentionnés des détails (2Chroniques 35.1-17) qui reposent, non sur le Deutéronome, mais sur l'ordonnance pascale renfermée dans l'Exode et dans le Lévitique. Or le mode de célébration fut certainement déterminé conformément au livre de la loi retrouvé par Hilkija. Cette expression : le livre de la loi, se trouve dans les Chroniques sous la forme plus développée : Le livre de la loi de l'Eternel, donnée par l'intermédiaire (la main) de Moïse (2Chroniques 34.14).
