Cette rupture ouverte de l'alliance aurait mérité d'attirer sur la famille de David un jugement de complète destruction, qui fut uniquement conjuré par la promesse faite à David (2Samuel 7.16 et 1Rois 11.32-39).

Une lampe : un successeur de sa famille sur son trône ; ce fut ici Joas.
