Il était maintenant évident que l'homme qui avait l'arche près de lui, devenait vraiment prospère. Christ est vraiment la Pierre d’achoppement, le Rocher qui subit les scandales de ceux qui désobéissent à Ses Préceptes ; mais pour ceux qui croient, Il est la Pierre angulaire, choisie et précieuse, 1Pierre 2:6-8. Recherchons la véritable piété : « L'Arche », la Personne de Christ, est-elle une bénédiction dans d'autres foyers, là où Elle demeure ? Il est tout à fait possible de jouir dans notre maison, de la présence de Jésus et de Ses bénédictions, sans essayer de les trouver chez nos voisins !

La première chose que David commença à faire, fut d'offrir des sacrifices à Dieu. Nous ne pouvons que prospérer dans nos entreprises, quand nous commençons par les placer devant Dieu, dans la diligence et dans Sa Paix. Nous sommes tellement indignes et nos œuvres si tortueuses, que toute notre joie dans la communion divine doit être associée au repentir et à la foi en notre Rédempteur, Celui qui nous a réconciliés par Son sang.

Ce texte révèle que David a vivement manifesté sa joie. Nous devons servir Dieu de toute notre force et de toute notre âme, avec tous les moyens dont nous disposons. En cette occasion, David laissa de côté ses parures royales, pour revêtir un éphod de lin. Le roi pria ainsi, pour le peuple ; de plus, considéré comme un prophète, il bénit solennellement les siens au Nom de l'Éternel.
