Hadadézer : Secours de Hadad (Hadad était le nom du dieu du soleil). Dans 10.16 et 1Chroniques 18.3, le même roi est appelé Hadarézer : secours de la Majesté.

Tsoba. Ville inconnue, située dans la contrée du Liban, d'après 1Chroniques 18.8.

Lorsqu'il était en chemin. Le pronom il ne peut se rapporter qu'à Hadadézer, car David n'avait jamais étendu sa domination précédemment sur l'Euphrate ; il ne pouvait penser à l'étendre jusqu'à ce fleuve qu'après la soumission des rois syriens.
