2 Timothée 3.15

Vu même que dès ton enfance tu as la connaissance des saintes Lettres, qui te peuvent rendre sage à salut, par la foi en Jésus-Christ.
Oui, tu connais les Livres Saints depuis ton enfance, ils sont capables de te donner la sagesse. Cette sagesse conduit au salut quand on croit en Jésus-Christ.

Les saintes lettres, c'est-à-dire les Ecritures de l'Ancien Testament, l'ont préparé à la foi en Jésus-Christ, et c'est l'un et l'autre choses réunies qui rendent sage pour le salut.

Cette connaissance des Ecritures dès son enfance, doit être pour Timothée une troisième raison de fermeté dans sa foi, et c'est dans cette pensée que l'apôtre va proclamer bien haut l'autorité et la sainte utilité des Ecritures. (2Timothée 3.16,17)
