Ce salut de Dieu (Sin., B, A), que vous rejetez, en accomplissant la prophétie d'Esaïe, a été envoyé aux païens ; Paul le leur prêchait depuis sa conversion.

Et (heureux contraste avec les Juifs !) eux l'écouteront et le recevront dans leur cœur.

Ces paroles de Paul redisent aux Juifs rebelles de Rome la redoutable vérité que Jésus avait déclarée aux Juifs de Jérusalem concernant l'avenir de son règne. (Matthieu 21.43) Et ce n'est pas ici la première fois que notre apôtre, instruit par l'expérience, les répétait à ses auditeurs Israélites, qui rejetaient l'Evangile. (Actes 13.46 ; 18.6)

      14 I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers , that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.
      15 But I write the more boldly to you in part, as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God,
      16 that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
