World English Bible I heard a loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!"

Chapitre 16.

1 à 7 Les trois premières coupes.

Les sept coupes, comme les sept épîtres (Apocalypse 2 et Apocalypse 3), les sept sceaux (Apocalypse 6) et les sept trompettes, (Apocalypse 8 et suivants) se divisent en deux groupes, formés de quatre, puis trois (sceaux et trompettes), et de trois, puis quatre (épîtres et coupes). Les quatre premières coupes rappellent les quatre premières trompettes, en ce que les jugements qu'elles apportent s'accomplissent simultanément et sont de même nature ; ils atteignent la terre, la mer, les sources d'eau, le soleil, les quatre parties de l'univers ; (Apocalypse 8.7,8,10,12 ; 14.7) mais il y a cette aggravation que précédemment le tiers seulement des objets était frappé, tandis que maintenant ils le sont tous.

La cinquième coupe, comme la cinquième trompette, annonce une invasion venant de l'Euphrate. La septième trompette et la septième coupe produisent des tonnerres et un tremblement de terre. Enfin, il faut remarquer que plusieurs de ces jugements reproduisent des plaies d'Egypte. (Exode 7 à Exode 10)

La forte voix qui venait du temple est, pour la plupart des interprètes, la voix de Dieu lui-même. Quelques-uns y voient celle de l'être vivant qui avait donné les coupes aux anges ; (Apocalypse 15.7) mais il ne paraît pas qu'il fût dans le temple. (Apocalypse 15.8)

La première coupe est versée sur la terre ; la deuxième sur la mer ; la troisième dans les fleuves et les sources. (Apocalypse 16:1-7)

Nous devons prier, afin que la volonté de Dieu puisse être accomplie sur la terre, comme au ciel.

Nous trouvons dans ce texte une succession de terribles jugements, effectués par la Providence ; il semble qu’il y ait là, une allusion à plusieurs fléaux qui frappèrent l'Égypte : en effet, les péchés commis étaient similaires, ainsi que le châtiment infligé.

Les coupes se rapportent aux sept trompettes, qui représentent l’avènement de l'antéchrist ; la chute des ennemis de l'église sera liée à cette venue : toute chose les concernant ici-bas, l’air qui les entoure, les mers, les rivières, les villes, tout sera voué à la ruine, tout sera maudit à cause de leur méchanceté.

Il n'est pas étonnant que les anges, véritables témoins de ces évènements, exécutant la vengeance divine sur ceux qui haïssent obstinément Dieu, Christ, et la Sainteté, louent Sa Justice et Sa Vérité ; ils ne peuvent qu’être en accord avec les terribles Jugements de l’Éternel, véritable réponse aux tortures que les cruels persécuteurs firent subir à Ses saints et Ses prophètes.

      17 The seventh poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came forth out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"
