J'entendis l'autel disant, est le texte de Sin., A. C., etc.

Le texte reçu porte : un autre ange du côté de l'autel. On lit cette leçon dans la Vulgate, mais elle ne se trouve dans aucun document grec.

J'entendis l'autel est une locution abrégée, par laquelle l'auteur veut dire qu'il entend une voix sortant de l'autel. Suivant d'autres, il personnifie hardiment l'autel. Cet autel est, comme Apocalypse 6.9, l'autel des holocaustes, sous lequel sont les âmes des martyrs.
