Grec : "Dans le prépuce de votre chair," n'ayant pas même, comme païens, reçu le signe extérieur de la circoncision, étant étrangers au peuple de Dieu, (Ephésiens 2.12) ce qui rend d'autant plus grande la grâce qui vous a été faite.

Voir sur la pensée de ce verset Ephésiens 2.1,5,6, notes.

- "Il vous a vivifiés avec lui," lui désigne Jésus-Christ ; le sujet de cette proposition, comme aussi des suivantes jusqu'au verset 15, c'est Dieu.

- Le pardon des offenses, de tous les péchés, est noté ici, et partout dans l'Ecriture, aussi bien que dans l'expérience de tous les chrétiens, comme le point de départ, la source de la vie nouvelle. Et cela est dans la nature des choses. Paul écrit : "nous ayant pardonné" (et non : vous, comme dit le texte reçu), se considérant lui-même et tous les chrétiens comme les objets de ce pardon.
