Deutéronome 1.2

– Du mont Horeb à Cadès-Barnéa, il y a onze jours de marche en suivant la route qui mène à la région montagneuse de Séir.

L'auteur fait remarquer le contraste entre les onze journées qu'aurait pu durer le voyage d'Horeb à la Terre Sainte et les quarante ans que l'incrédulité d'Israël l'a fait durer. De Sinaï, en cheminant un peu plus de huit heures par jour, le voyageur américain Robinson arriva le onzième jour à Kadès.

Par le chemin de la montagne de Séir. Celui qui conduit de Sinaï à travers le désert, jusqu'à la partie septentrionale du pays d'Edom (plateau d'Azazimat).
