Deutéronome 12.31

You shall not do so to Yahweh your God: for every abomination to Yahweh, which he hates, have they done to their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.

Tu n'agiras pas ainsi envers l'Eternel : Même en continuant à servir l'Eternel, tu ne joindras pas à son culte celui des divinités adorées de tout temps par les peuples du pays où tu vivras.

Elles brûlaient. Allusion au culte de Moloch. Il y eut des rois de Juda même qui se laissèrent entraîner à imiter cet exemple (2Rois 21.6). Moïse ne cite qu'un des excès de l'idolâtrie palestinienne, mais un des plus hideux et par lequel toute cette religion se juge elle même.
