World English Bible But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he forsook God who made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Regimbé, comme un bouvillon qui, dans le sentiment de sa force, ne veut pas se laisser mettre le joug.

Tu es devenu : passage de la troisième à la deuxième personne, qui résulte de la vivacité du sentiment.

Ce passage nous donne deux exemples de la méchanceté d'Israël, chacun étant une véritable apostasie contre Dieu. Ces gens étaient nommés des Jeshurun, « peuple droit, juste », selon certains, « peuple voyant », selon d'autres : ils perdirent bien vite leur réputation, de droiture et de connaissance !

Les Israélites satisfirent leurs différents appétits, comme s'ils n'avaient rien de mieux à faire que de se livrer à leurs convoitises ! Ceux qui se « déifient » eux-mêmes, ne voulant servir que leur égocentrisme, leur orgueil et leurs moindres désirs, sans supporter qu'on leur fasse un quelconque reproche, ne peuvent qu'abandonner Dieu, ou montrer qu'ils n'ont pour Lui qu'une bien piètre estime. Malgré les voies que les différentes modes ou religions peuvent offrir, il n'y a qu'un chemin pour les pécheurs qui reconnaissent leur état et recherchent la sanctification : il s'agit du chemin de la sincérité de cœur.

Les idolâtres qui abandonnent le Rocher du salut, sont finalement de malheureuses personnes, qui en fait, ne font que courir sur les pierres qui mènent à la perdition !
