22 à 24. Seconde strophe : Maux successifs, découlant de la juste colère de l'Eternel.

Si la terre elle-même, simple demeure des pécheurs, souffre à ce point de cette colère, combien doivent trembler ceux qui l'ont allumée par leur méchanceté.

Enfers (schéol): lieux bas de la terre ; intérieur du globe terrestre. Du haut des cieux, où l'Eternel réside, ce feu a gagné les parties les plus basses de la terre.
