Deutéronome 33.22

Sur Dan il dit : « Dan est un jeune lion qui s'élance du Basan. »
Et il dit touchant DAN : Dan est un jeune lion, il sautera de Basan.

Jacob avait surtout fait ressortir l'habileté et la ruse de Dan (Genèse 49.19) ; il s'agit ici de sa force et de son agilité qui sont comparées à celles du lion des forêts de Basan se jetant à l'improviste sur sa proie.
