12 à 15 Ce n'est pas sur ses actions seulement qu'il faut veiller (versets 8 et 11), mais encore sur ses paroles. La transition du précédent morceau à celui-ci se trouve dans verset 11.

Sont pleines de grâce, littéralement : sont grâce. Quand un sage parle, il plaît et s'attire la faveur générale.

Mais les lèvres de l'insensé le perdent, littéralement : l'avalent. Jeu de mots. Comparez Proverbes 12.18 ; 14.3.
