Le mystère est ce que Paul vient de nommer "la dispensation" (Ephésiens 3.2) et qu'il explique clairement. (Ephésiens 3.6) Ce mystère, Paul l'a connu par révélation directe du Seigneur, non par l'instruction des hommes. (Galates 1,12)

Comme je viens de vous l'écrire (dans cette lettre) ne signifie pas que l'apôtre ait déjà exprimé cette pensée d'une révélation directe, mais il entend ce mystère tel que (ou de la manière dont) il en a déroulé les richesses dans les deux premiers chapitres. (Voir en particulier Ephésiens 1.9,10 ; 2.11 et suivants ; comparez ci-dessous, Ephésiens 3.6)
