World English Bible He will spread out his hands in its midst, like one who swims spreads out hands to swim, but his pride will be humbled together with the craft of his hands.

Les efforts de Moab pour échapper au châtiment (comparez 16.12) sont comparés à ceux du nageur pour se soutenir au-dessus de l'eau. C'est dans la mare à fumier que le prophète le représente se débattant : énergique manière de peindre sa ruine ignominieuse.
