Esaïe 27.10

Il n’y a plus personne dans la ville bien protégée. Elle est vide et abandonnée comme un désert. Les veaux viennent se nourrir à cet endroit, ils s’y reposent et mangent les feuilles des buissons.

World English Bible For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness. The calf will feed there, and there he will lie down, and consume its branches.

Les idoles qu'Israël a détruites ne se relèveront pas (verset 9) ; car après que, par la chute de la grande cité, capitale du paganisme, elles ont été convaincues d'impuissance, le peuple ne sera plus tenté de les adorer. Comparez 21.9. Ainsi la conversion d'Israël se lie étroitement au jugement des païens.

Ville forte : voir 24.10-12 ; 25.2 ; 26.5.

Une demeure délaissée... Elle est devenue un monceau de décombres ; parmi ces ruines croissent des broussailles qui servent soit de pâture aux troupeaux, soit de combustible (verset 14). Comparez 5.17 ; 17.2 ; 10.16-18.
