Ses portes gémiront. On y entendra les cris des habitants qui y seront demeurés, entre autres ceux des femmes qui mèneront deuil sur leurs maris (verset 25). Comparez Lamentations 1.4. La ville est comparée à une femme qui a tout perdu et qui, dans sa douleur, s'est assise à terre, selon l'usage oriental (Lamentations 2.10).
