21 à 31 Compte des métaux employés pour le Tabernacle. Pour l'or et l'airain, il n'y a pas de difficulté : cette quantité de métaux, en partie très précieux, peut paraître considérable ; mais elle est parfaitement admissible si on la compare avec la profusion d'or employé par les peuples anciens. Dans le temple de Bel à Babylone les idoles et les ustensiles d'or pesaient des milliers de talents. Dans la seule ville de Persépolis, Alexandre trouva 120 000 talents d'or.

À chaque fois que nous détaillons les ustensiles du tabernacle, portons nos regards sur notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ : quand nous songeons à l’autel des sacrifices, nous pouvons « voir » Jésus ! En Lui nous distinguons la droiture et le salut, deux « offrandes » parfaites pour la rémission des péchés. Dans la cuve de la régénération, par le Saint-Esprit, nos âmes sont lavées et deviennent alors vraiment propres ; de même que les Hébreux, qui faisaient leurs offrandes avec libéralité, offrons de la même manière notre âme à Dieu !

Soyons prêts à partager toutes choses ici-bas, quitte à tout perdre pour gagner Jésus-Christ !
