World English Bible Yahweh will cut off, to the man who does this, him who wakes and him who answers, out of the tents of Jacob, and him who offers an offering to Yahweh of Armies.

La menace suivante peut être comprise de deux manières très différentes ; ou bien : l'Eternel ôtera à un tel homme tout descendant ; celui qui veille, pour dire celui qui s'éveille à la vie ; celui qui répond, celui qui peut parler ; celui qui offre, tout fils adulte capable d'offrir un sacrifice. Ou bien : l'Eternel privera un tel homme de toute garantie de sécurité et de tout moyen de réconciliation, celui qui veille désignant la sentinelle sur les murailles de la ville ; celui qui répond, la sentinelle voisine répondant à son appel ; celui qui offre l'oblation, le sacrificateur. Qu'il ne s'en trouve pas un assez infidèle à son devoir pour offrir un sacrifice en faveur d'un pareil homme !
