Chapitre 4.

1 à 9 Unis et joyeux, dans la paix de Dieu, qu'ils recherchent toutes les vertus chrétiennes.

Cette tendre exhortation de l'apôtre à ceux qui sont ici-bas déjà sa joie, et qui seront au jour de Christ sa couronne, c'est-à-dire la glorieuse récompense de ses travaux, (2Corinthiens 1.14 ; 1Thessaloniciens 2.19 et suivants) cette exhortation à demeurer fermes dans le Seigneur, (1Thessaloniciens 3.8) se fonde, comme le montre la transition par c'est pourquoi, sur la grande et impérissable espérance exprimée dans les derniers versets du chapitre précédent.

Plus le chrétien a une vue claire et une attente assurée du but glorieux vers lequel il tend, plus il y puise de force et de constance pour "persévérer jusqu'à la fin."

L’espérance spirituelle et la perspective de la vie éternelle, doivent nous rendre équilibrés et constants durant toute notre course chrétienne sur terre. Malgré le fait qu’il y ait des différences de dons et de grâces, nous sommes cependant renouvelés par le même Esprit, nous sommes tous frères. Rester ferme dans le Seigneur, c'est se tenir sous l’égide de Sa force, par Sa grâce !
