Proverbes 17.19

Qui aime les contestations aime la transgression ; qui hausse son portail cherche la ruine.
Celui qui aime les disputes aime le péché, et l’orgueilleux court à sa perte.

Celui qui, écoutant la voix de son égoïsme, ne craint pas les querelles, est facilement entraîné à mal faire.

Faire sa porte trop haute et trop large, c'est compromettre par vanité la solidité de tout l'édifice qu'on construit.

L'idée commune aux deux membres de ce verset, c'est celle de l'orgueil et de l'amour propre.
