Proverbes 19.16

He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die.

Le précepte, la loi émanée de Dieu (6.23 ; 13.13).

Qui néglige, littéralement : qui méprise, comme ne valant pas la peine d'être surveillée. Comparez 16.17. On néglige sa conduite quand on n'attache pas assez de valeur au discernement de ce qui est bien ou mal, qu'on ne se fait aucun scrupule de conscience d'agir en conformité ou en opposition avec les règles de la loi morale.

Mourra, littéralement : sera puni de mort, ne mourra pas de mort naturelle. Il vaut la peine d'y penser !
