La question se renouvelle. L'événement est si grand, l'honneur fait à Sion si extraordinaire, qu'on a peine à y croire ; il faut interroger à nouveau et entendre encore une fois le nom du Roi qui fait son entrée.

L'Eternel des armées. Ce n'est plus seulement comme un grand guerrier qu'est désigné l'Eternel, mais comme celui qui dirige toutes les armées célestes, anges et astres (Psaumes 103.21 ; Esaïe 40.26), et qui régit en maître souverain tout l'ensemble des créatures.

Si David a eu un sentiment si profond de l'honneur qui lui était fait de recevoir en Sion le symbole de la présence de Dieu, n'éprouverons-nous pas, à notre tour, les sentiments exprimés dans ce psaume, en pensant à la venue réelle du Seigneur sur la terre, comme Fils de l'homme, à son entrée dans nos cœurs par le Saint-Esprit et à son avènement à venir en gloire ?
