J'élève mes mains. C'était là le signe extérieur qui accompagnait la prière (Exode 9.29 ; 1Rois 8.23 ; 1Timothée 2.8). David élève ses mains vers le sanctuaire, qui rappelle l'alliance de Dieu. Il n'y contemplait pas moins la présence de la grâce de Dieu, que si elle lui eût été représentée en un miroir : ainsi il faut maintenant que les fidèles, pour s'assurer que Dieu est près d'eux, tendent droit à Christ (Calvin).
