Quand j'étais en ma prospérité, je disais : je ne serai jamais ébranlé.

7 à 11 Orgueil et détresse.

Pour moi. David a parlé d'une expérience générale. Il en vient maintenant à son cas particulier.

Je ne serai jamais ébranlé. Ce sentiment de satisfaction, qui semble si naturel dans la prospérité, n'en révèle pas moins une erreur coupable (Psaumes 10.6), l'homme se faisant un mérite de ce qu'il a reçu par grâce et remplaçant la reconnaissance par l'orgueil. La conséquence inévitable d'un tel sentiment, c'est que Dieu, auquel seul est due cette prospérité (verset 8), abandonne l'ingrat à son néant. Comparez Daniel 4.30-31 ; Proverbes 16.18.
