La mention de son ministère parmi les gentils conduit Paul à décrire les grandes choses que Christ a faites par son moyen. Il a parcouru l'Orient tout entier. La conclusion, qu'il n'exprime pas, c'est qu'il peut maintenant se tourner vers l'Occident, vers Rome tout d'abord.

Grec : J'ai donc la glorification en Christ Jésus quant aux choses qui se rapportent à Dieu...

"L'expression : les choses qui se rapportent à Dieu, est, en quelque sorte, technique dans la langue liturgique juive pour désigner les fonctions du culte. (Hébreux 2.17 ; 5.1, etc.) Ce terme se rattache ainsi au même ordre d'idées que tous ceux du verset précédent." Godet.

L'apôtre trouve ce sujet de se glorifier en Jésus-Christ, à qui il attribue tout ce qu'il a fait : "non pas moi toutefois, mais la grâce de Dieu en moi." (1Corinthiens 15.10)
