World English Bible For those who are such don't serve our Lord, Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

Les cœurs des simples, (grec) des innocents, de ceux qui sont sans malice.

- Sur ce trait : ils servent leur propre ventre, comparez Philippiens 3.19. Leurs bonnes paroles ou leur parler bénin, leur beau langage, (grec) leurs bénédictions. Ce dernier mot manque dans D et quelques majuscules

- Les séducteurs, dont l'apôtre parle ici, ne sont pas les "faibles" de versets 14,15, mais probablement ces chrétiens judaïsants, opposés au salut gratuit et adversaires personnels de Paul qui cherchaient partout à combattre son influence. L'apôtre prévoit qu'ils ne tarderont pas à paraître à Rome et à troubler cette Eglise comme ils avaient troublé les Eglises de la Galatie et celle de Corinthe. L'événement confirma ses prévisions. (Philippiens 1.15 et suivants)
