Grec : ceux qui sont de la loi.

A l'argument tiré de l'histoire, l'apôtre ajoute des considérations psychologiques et morales sur le rôle de la loi : dans l'état de corruption de l'homme, elle lui vaut seulement le châtiment de Dieu. (verset 15)

Si donc, pour obtenir l'héritage, il faut accomplir la loi, la foi, qui déjà a saisi l'objet de la promesse, est rendue vaine, et la promesse elle-même est annulée. On ne saurait donc admettre que l'accomplissement de la promesse soit subordonné à une condition légale.
