Un peuple élu, distingué, qui lui appartienne en propre, comme Israël est souvent appelé dans l'Ancien Testament. (Deutéronome 7.6 ; Comparer 1Pierre 2.9,10)

Cet adjectif ne se trouve qu'ici. Luther le traduit par cette périphrase : "un peuple pour sa propriété."

Le but final de la rĂ©demption, ce qui a portĂ© le Sauveur Ă  se donner pour nous, est clairement exposĂ© dans ces paroles : Nous racheter, nous purifier, se crĂ©er un peuple particulier, zĂ©lateur des bonnes Ɠuvres. ( 2.3 ; 8 ; EphĂ©siens 2.10)

Et tout cela est produit par la manifestation de la grĂące. ( 2.11,12)

Une telle vie, riche de tous les fruits de cette grĂące, est donc le seul signe certain que nous y avons part, et que nous appartenons Ă  JĂ©sus-Christ.
