Zacharie 11.16

Car voici que moi-même je fais surgir dans le pays un berger qui n’interviendra pas en faveur des (brebis) qui sont sur le point de disparaître ; il n’ira pas à la recherche de la plus jeune, il ne guérira pas celle qui est blessée, il n’alimentera pas celle qui est debout ; mais il dévorera la viande de celle qui est grasse et il déchirera jusqu’à la corne de leurs pattes.

La description de la conduite de ce nouveau berger est opposée à la conduite du berger de l'Eternel tandis qu'il paissait le troupeau. Elle caractérise ici, comme Jérémie 23.1-2 ; Ezéchiel 34.1-10, la conduite des chefs égoïstes du peuple qui ne s'occupent que de leurs propres intérêts et qui exploitent à leur profit le troupeau qui leur est confié.

Et fendra leur sabot : pour exploiter jusqu'à la dernière parcelle de substance nutritive qui peut se trouver dans ses victimes.
