Il n'y a pas, dans l'original, la folie de Dieu, la faiblesse de Dieu, mais (l'adjectif neutre) ce qui est fou, ce qui est faible, ce qui, en Dieu, paraît tel aux hommes.

Ces expressions, à la fois plus respectueuses quand il s'agit de Dieu, et moins absolument paradoxales, ne peuvent pas se rendre d'un mot dans notre langue.

- L'apôtre, se plaçant au point de vue de ceux qui n'ont su découvrir que faiblesse et folie dans l'apparition du Fils de Dieu sur la terre, (verset 23) complète, en la généralisant, la grande pensée qu'il leur a opposée au verset précèdent. (verset 24, note.)

      22 The prophet came near to the king of Israel, and said to him, "Go, strengthen yourself, and mark, and see what you do; for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against you."

      Zacharie 4

      6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says Yahweh of Armies.
