Voilà une quatrième conséquence de l'erreur qu'il combat ; il en indique (verset 18) une cinquième, non moins terrible ; et enfin, (verset 19) une sixième qui les résume toutes.

- Etre dans ses péchés, (comparez Jean 8.21) c'est non seulement n'en avoir point le pardon, être condamné par la justice de Dieu, mais être livré à toutes les conséquences du péché non vaincu, à l'esclavage de la corruption, à la mort temporelle et éternelle. Preuve que, dans la pensée de l'apôtre, ce n'est que la résurrection de Jésus-Christ qui a consommé toute son œuvre de rédemption ; de là aussi la conséquence de verset 18.
