Sans aucun doute Dieu prend soin des bœufs et de toute créature ; cette loi (Deutéronome 25.4) le prouve aussi bien que d'autres pareilles ; (Deutéronome 22.6-10 ; Lévitique 22.28) mais ces lois d'une tendre providence sont moins écrites pour les animaux (qui ne savent pas lire, remarque Luther), que pour l'homme qui doit apprendre par là à être humain et reconnaissant, même envers les êtres destitués de raison qui le servent par leur travail ; combien plus envers son semblable ! et combien plus encore le chrétien envers le serviteur de Dieu, qui lui fait part des biens spirituels ! (versets 10,11)
