Le texte reçu porte : Et tous (soyez) vous soumettant les uns aux autres.

Le participe vous soumettant manque dans Sin., B. A, versions.

Quelques-uns ponctuent la phrase comme suit : "soyez soumis aux anciens, et tous les uns aux autres. Revêtez vous d'humilité."

Le verbe traduit par se revêtir signifie d'après les uns : "mettre un tablier d'esclave" (comparez l'acte de Jésus, Jean 13.4 ; Luc 22.27) ; d'après d'autres : "attacher avec un ruban." Proverbes 3.34 ; Jacques 4.6.

Pierre, que la présomption a fait tomber, insiste sur l'humilité. Il sait combien cette vertu est difficile à acquérir et à pratiquer, surtout dans la jeunesse.
