World English Bible Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

Salomon chercha à faire mourir..., soit qu'il eût eu vent de ce qui s'était passé entre Ahija et Jéroboam, soit que les allures hautaines de ce dernier trahissent ses desseins. Jéroboam, se sentant plus ou moins deviné, se déroba par la fuite.

Sisaki en égyptien Schéshonk. On s'étonne de voir la cour égyptienne, si étroitement unie à Salomon, accueillir l'ennemi de ce roi. Mais l'histoire de l'Egypte nous apprend que le beau-père de Salomon fut le dernier roi de la vingt-unième dynastie égyptienne (tanitique), et que Sisak fut le premier de la vingt-deuxième (bubastique). Ce changement de dynastie explique le changement d'attitude de la cour d'Egypte.
