Les verbes de notre versets ont pour sujet les Israélites immigrés en Juda ; notre texte ne dit rien de l'état religieux de Juda pendant cette période. La note de 1Rois 14.22 partait du point de vue que la fin de notre verset se rapporte aux gens de Juda. Mais on comprend que l'oppression religieuse en Israël et la déchéance survenant en Juda (1Rois 14.22-24) aient bientôt mis fin à cette manifestation réjouissante de la vie religieuse.
