2 Chroniques 18.31

It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It is the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
Quand les chefs des chars aperçurent Josaphat, ils se dirent : « C’est lui, le roi d’Israël », et ils l’encerclèrent pour l’attaquer. Mais Josaphat poussa un cri, et l’Eternel le secourut : Dieu détourna les Syriens de lui.

La fin du verset : Et l'Eternel le secourut, et Dieu les attira loin de lui, manque dans 1 Rois.

Notre auteur semble entendre par le cri de Josaphat une prière dans laquelle il invoque le secours de Dieu, tandis que 1 Rois voit dans ce cri un appel à ses hommes.

Le fait que les ennemis cessent de poursuivre Josaphat est expliqué ici par une sorte d'aveuglement dont Dieu les frappa (Dieu les attira, littéralement : les séduisit loin de lui), tandis qu'au verset 32 ce fait est expliqué simplement par l'obéissance à l'ordre qu'ils avaient reçu (verset 30). 1 Rois (verset 33) ne donne que cette seconde explication.
