Grec : "Elles (les armes) sont puissantes à Dieu," ou pour Dieu, par Dieu, selon Dieu, divinement puissantes ; (comparez 2Corinthiens 2.14 ; Actes 7.20 en grec) de toutes manières elles viennent de Dieu, de son Esprit, et non de l'homme.

On attendait pour l'antithèse avec armes charnelles, des armes spirituelles ; le sens est le même, mais l'expression dont se sert l'apôtre rend sa pensée plus complète encore. Ce qu'il entend par ces forteresses se trouve expliqué au verset suivant.
