Paul allait commencer le récit circonstancié des faiblesses dont il se glorifie. Mais après avoir raconté la première persécution qu'il eut à subir peu après sa conversion, il s'arrête dans le sentiment très juste que la continuation de ce récit n'était pas ce qui convenait dans la situation donnée ; il passe brusquement à la mention de quelque chose de plus élevé et de plus caractéristique, les révélations qu'il a eues.
