11 à 21 Sincérité et grandeur du ministère de la réconciliation.

Grec : "Nous sommes manifestés à Dieu (qui connaît nos cœurs) ; j'espère que nous sommes aussi manifestés dans vos consciences."

- La crainte du Seigneur, que la pensée du jugement (verset 10) est si propre à réveiller dans les âmes, inspire à l'apôtre les sérieuses pensées qui suivent, sur la manière dont il remplit son ministère : toujours sous le regard de Dieu, qui sonde les cœurs, il s'efforce de gagner les hommes par la persuasion, de les convaincre par la douceur. Et il donne comme double garant de sa sincérité le témoignage de Dieu, à qui tout est connu, et le témoignage des consciences, qui, il l'espère, ne saurait lui être refusé.
