2 Corinthiens 7.9

νῦν χαίρω, οὐχ ὅτι ἐλυπήθητε, ἀλλ’ ὅτι ἐλυπήθητε εἰς μετάνοιαν, ἐλυπήθητε γὰρ κατὰ θεόν, ἵνα ἐν μηδενὶ ζημιωθῆτε ἐξ ἡμῶν.
I now rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.

La construction ou ponctuation de ces versets versets 8,9 diffère dans les diverses éditions grecques aussi bien que dans nos versions.

Celle que nous avons adoptée rend ainsi le tour si vif de la pensée de l'apôtre : Je ne me repens pas (de vous avoir attristés) ; si je m'en suis repenti (ici il dit dans une parenthèse dont la phrase est suspendue la raison de ce repentir...), puis il se hâte d'ajouter : maintenant je me réjouis, et il explique la cause de cette joie. (verset 9)

- Ce mot de la parenthèse : je vois se rapporte aux nouvelles qu'il venait de recevoir par Tite.
