Ce verset est une parenthèse destinée à faire comprendre que même cette espèce de restauration n'amena point la conversion et le salut du peuple.

Et même l'Astarté. L'existence de cette idole, après l'extermination par Jéhu de tout ce qui tenait au culte de Baal, se comprend difficilement ; elle ne s'explique que par un acte de faiblesse ou de laisser-aller de la part du roi et du peuple.
