11 à 13 L'approche de l'Eternel, monté sur le chérubin, littéralement : monté sur chérubin. Ce terme peut donc être pris ici dans un sens collectif. Les chérubins, comme nous l'avons vu au chapitre 1 d'Ezéchiel, sont le symbole des forces de la nature qui obéissent à Dieu et dont il se sert pour accomplir les œuvres de sa puissance. Tandis que dans les religions idolâtres ces forces sont elles-mêmes divinisées, elles apparaissent dans la religion israélite comme portant le trône divin.
