Dieu ne trompe pas l'espérance de celui qui agit sincèrement sous son regard ; mais le pervers se trouve avoir affaire à quelqu'un qui est plus fin que lui (tu agis perfidement) et qui se sert de sa perversité même pour le perdre (1Corinthiens 3.19 ; Job 5.13). Le mode des verbes choisi par le psalmiste dans les quatre propositions des versets 26 et 27 (l'hithpaël) sert à peindre la satisfaction et la plénitude de la revanche.
