LES SEPT COUPES. Ch. 15 :1 à 19 :10

Chapitre 15.

1 à 8 Le chant des vainqueurs.

Ce chapitre contient une introduction à la vision des sept coupes, (Apocalypse 16 et suivants) qui annonceront et amèneront les dernières plaies, les jugements par lesquels le courroux de Dieu sera consommé. (Daniel 11.36)

Le verset verset 1 est une sorte de suscription de tout le morceau, car les sept anges n'entrent en scène qu'à verset 6. L'auteur les mentionne en disant : Je vis dans le ciel un autre signe, grand et admirable. Ces termes reportent la pensée à Apocalypse 12.1-3. Les anges tenaient les plaies, parce qu'ils les avaient dans des coupes qu'ils tenaient à la main (Apocalypse 15.7 ; 16.1)

Sept anges avec les sept fléaux ; un des quatre êtres vivants donne aux anges sept coupes d'or, pleines de la colère de Dieu. (Apocalypse 15:5-8)

Sept anges apparurent dans le ciel, se préparant à détruire complètement l'antéchrist. La mesure des péchés de Babylone étant à son comble, la colère divine était à son paroxysme.

Alors que les croyants vivent ici-bas des temps de trouble, étant, de manière imagée, sur une « mer de verre, mêlée de feu », ils sont à même d’attendre avec impatience leur délivrance définitive : de nouvelles miséricordes divines les incitent alors à faire monter vers Dieu de nouveaux hymnes de louange.

Plus nous découvrirons les merveilleuses œuvres de Dieu, plus nous serons à même de louer Sa Grandeur : Il est le Seigneur Dieu Tout-puissant, le Créateur et le Souverain de tous les mondes ! Son titre d'Emmanuel, le Roi des saints, Le rend cher à nos cœurs !

Quel est celui qui, considérant la puissance de la colère de Dieu, le prix de Sa faveur, ou la gloire de Sa sainteté, négligerait de Le craindre et de L'honorer, Lui seul ? La louange qui Lui est due, est au-dessus du ciel et de la terre !
