Hébreu / Grec - Texte original © καὶ ἓν ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων ζῴων ἔδωκεν τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἀγγέλοις ἑπτὰ φιάλας χρυσᾶς γεμούσας τοῦ θυμοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.

World English Bible One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

Les coupes d'or, contenant les châtiments décrétés par le Dieu qui vit aux siècles des siècles (Apocalypse 4.9) et qui se manifeste comme tel dans ses jugements, sont remises aux anges par l'un des quatre êtres vivants (Apocalypse 4.6-8 ; comparez Apocalypse 6.1,3,5,7), parce que ceux-ci représentent les forces de la nature qui vont être employées par Dieu à l'accomplissement de ses desseins.

Les coupes sont considérées par les uns comme des vases propres à contenir un liquide, le vin de la colère de Dieu, (Apocalypse 14.10) par d'autres comme des ustensiles en or, destinés à recevoir du feu et des charbons ardents. (Comparer verset 8 et Apocalypse 8.5) La première explication s'accorde mieux avec l'action décrite à Apocalypse 16.
