World English Bible People were scorched with great heat, and people blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues. They didn't repent and give him glory.

Comme à versets 11,21. Cette conduite est pire que celle qui est décrite Apocalypse 9.20,21, et qui fait contraste avec celle des hommes mentionnés Apocalypse 11.13.

La quatrième trompette avait amené un obscurcissement partiel du soleil ; la quatrième coupe augmente sa chaleur, qui devient une source de tourment pour les hommes. Mais ceux-ci ne se convertissent pas ; bien qu'ils sachent que Dieu a autorité sur ces plaies, et qu'il pourrait les faire cesser ils refusent de lui donner gloire, et ainsi ils rendent vaines ses intentions miséricordieuses en repoussant le salut qu'il leur avait offert avant la crise finale. (Apocalypse 14.6,7 ; comparez Apocalypse 2.21)

Les mots : et ils blasphémèrent vont se répéter comme un lugubre refrain après la cinquième et la septième coupes (versets 11,21)
