C'est là le crime capital de Babylone. (Apocalypse 17.6)

En répandant le sang des prophètes et des saints, qui a été trouvé en elle, (Ezéchiel 24.7-9) elle a couronné et consommé toute la série des actes de violence commis sur la terre.

Le sang de tous les égorgés (grec) a été trouvé ainsi en elle, et lui sera redemandé, comme la Jérusalem contemporaine du Christ a dû payer pour "tout le sang innocent répandu sur la terre depuis le sang d'Abel le juste jusqu'au sang de Zacharie, fils de Barachie." (Matthieu 23.35)
